Destructive to Moving Forward

The beginning of the journey was one I did not want to accept. By accepting it, I felt like I was going to be labeled. That I was broken and nothing could be done to fix it. I felt there was no chance for healing any form of the damage. I was destructive. If I wasn’t imploding, I was exploding at everything and everyone and every situation. Nothing was able to heal my broken and heavily disturbed heart and mind.

After being placed in a state hospital for a third time and being emotionally and physically abused by their staff, I finally made the stand with myself that change was needed. That’s what became my strength to overcome the self-established labels of broken and damaged. I got my act together and decided I was going to strive for two things:

1. I will set the goal to be a better person than I was the day before, and

2. I am going to live for each new day, putting the past in the past and leaving it there.

Putting those words into action has been tough (I won’t lie). There are days where it seems impossible. Some days, I hate the day and I just have to tell myself that “tomorrow will be a new day” just to get through it. For me, worrying about the little things is pointless, but it doesn’t mean I quit worrying. It’s called anxiety for a reason! My diagnoses have ranged, but they don’t define me! I don’t let them! I can’t! If I do, everything else in life wins, including the crap I had to shake off from my past. The baggage that I left behind.
